Reflection 3 : Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

I choose to reflect a novel calls Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Gone girl tells the story of a spouse, Nick and Amy Dunne. Their married life is not so well and it becomes worse when Nick has decided to move from New York City to his hometown at Missouri which Amy hates. One day, Amy Dunne disappeared on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary. Amy goes missing’s news has been attractive by media and people. Nick was charged with murder-underestimating his wife. So, he must do anything to prove that he isn’t murderer.

After I have read this book the point that came into my mind is about “mass media”. Actually this book reminds me many things such as media consumption habits, media ethics and etc. but the point that interesting to me the most is why media influenced to people so much?

Medias take a big role in this story, (spoiler alert) Nick and Amy decided to live together again because they would like to put on an act for the public and convince people to think that they are a perfect couple by using media. Amy is a very intelligent woman. She knows how to control media and make them be on her side. And then when media support her that means people will be on her side too. This can prove that Medias are influencing to people so much. They effect to people’s mind, belief, decision, life and etc. for example, (spoiler alert) Amy told she was kidnapped, imprisoned and raped by her ex-boyfriend but in fact she didn’t. She decided to kill him because she wants to return to her husband like a pitiful girl. She wants people think she really love her husband so that she can kill a person. As a result related staffs didn’t check up her carefully because the image that she created.

For me, the social of sarcastic in this book can reflect ‘media consumption habit’ and ‘media ethics’ as well. The media always show the things that people want to know not the fact that people supposed to know.

Reflection 2 : TED talk 'why work doesn't happen at work'

According to TED talk ‘why work doesn’t happen at work’ I disagree with the speaker because there are many kind of work in this world. From the example that he mentioned, I think he focused on creative work area. So clearly this kind of work is not suitable for working in the office.
I think the cause that why work doesn’t happen at work is worker in the offices, not the bosses, the managers or the meetings. For me, this problem is happen because employees lack of responsibility. They can work while they are communicating with colleagues or maybe they should finish their tasks before they talk or doing other activities with their colleagues.
For example, I have experienced an internship program in the office for four months. It was work in area of Public Relations and Marketing. I think this kind of work is really fit to work in the office because we have to keep contact and discuss ideas with each other all the times. And yes sometime it was distracted but we can’t avoid this. Communications is important to this kind of work. In the office where I worked everyone can finished their work punctually because they always have meeting. There will be the concept and guideline for the work so everyone known their own jobs.
Let say the M&Ms (the managers and the meetings) is not the real interruption. But repetitiously meetings and grumble managers are.

Reflection 1 : "The year of Paywall"

Nowadays, Internet becomes important to everyone. It is efficient to our daily life and also industry, especially the newspaper publishing industry. I think our lifestyle has change from the past. It forces the newspaper publishing industry to develop their way to survive. For example, The new York times, at first their gave reader read news online for free but now the readers have to pay for it.

For me, the method of paywall that paying for reading seems reasonable. Because this is business we can’t keep reading it for free forever. So, in the future I believe that the technology will be grow up more. Our lifestyle will be change and industry will have been change again. The most clearly example is traditional newspaper used to popular among people in the past. But now digital news suit with new generation people.
